Step into Africa!

Step into Africa!

The nationally traveling World Vision Experience AIDS tour is coming to two Dallas area venues this spring. This tour is changing lives and making a difference on a global scale. An interactive walk-thru exhibit, the experience combines stirring audio and captivating photography that transports visitors into the heart of Africa and the life of a child.

The tour will be in Dallas on these days:

March 21-28: Southern Methodist University, 6425 Boaz Lane, Dallas

April 27 - May 7: First Baptist Church Mckinney, 1615 West Louisiana Street, Mckinney

Presented through the eyes of a child, the Experience AIDS tour brings to life the world of those most severely impacted by HIV and AIDS. It offers hope in the face of this unprecedented pandemic, while offering practical opportunities for involvement, education, and advocacy.

We invite you to join us and walk through an African village, seeing first-hand the lives of children whose families have been devastated by the greatest humanitarian crisis of our time. For ticket reservations and volunteer opportunities visit www.worldvisionexperience.org.

Answer the Call to Volunteer in North Texas!

dallas-News-vol051307.jpgPresident Obama recently launched “United We Serve,” calling on Americans to join in volunteer service to help lift their communities out of economic need.

In a video message aired in late June, Obama said that “the challenges we face are unprecedented in their size and scope, and we cannot rely on quick fixes or easy answers to put us on the road to recovery . . . Economic recovery is as much about what you’re doing in your communities as what we’re doing in Washington—and it’s going to take all of us, working together.”

Volunteerism can make a significant impact in building a new foundation for our nation’s future, the president said.

dallas-News-vol0626077cc.jpgYour contribution counts! World Vision in North Texas invites you to join us as a volunteer working to help alleviate poverty in the United States. By serving through World Vision, you are caring for some of the families hardest hit by the economic crisis—those already living in poverty before the downturn.

World Vision volunteers make a big difference for children and families in need. Last year alone, World Vision partnered with more than 9,200 volunteers, who provided nearly 95,000 hours of service in distressed communities across the nation. In North Texas, 555 volunteers provided vital services in 2008.

Volunteers tutor and mentor, help with community fairs and back-to-school block parties. They also package and organize donated product at World Vision's eight sites nationwide. Your help is needed to stock shelves, unpack donated items, and sort school supplies.

This outreach experience can be tailored for individuals or groups. Churches, families, friends, and coworkers all are invited to make this a memorable activity that gives back to your community.
