The Need

homepage-equip-the_need_small.jpgAt the core of humanitarian work in under-resourced communities exists a host of dedicated individuals, churches, and faith-based and community-based organizations that are committed to meeting the needs of the people they serve. The urgency of meeting the most basic and immediate needs of their communities often keeps these dedicated workers from thinking through long-term, strategic issues such as leadership succession and managing organizational growth.

These individuals and organizations often are themselves under-resourced and overextended in service delivery. This phenomenon is well-documented in many research reports, including the White House report “The Unlevel Playing Field,” and confirmed by the experience of World Vision staff.

Without intentional, strategic, and deliberate intervention to address these challenges, organizations and those they serve are at risk of failing to realize their full potential. In most cases, community groups need individual attention and assistance to move to the next level in organizational growth.
