Meeting Essential Needs

When families do not have the essentials for daily life, their children’s development, health, safety, and overall well-being are profoundly affected. World Vision serves to fill basic needs that many Americans take for granted, such as soap, shampoo, household cleaning materials, and clothing.

Children who lack proper clothing, personal care products, and school supplies often suffer from reduced self-esteem and classroom performance. In turn, these children are more at risk of adopting dangerous behaviors like skipping class, dropping out of school, becoming involved in gangs, and engaging in relationships that can lead to early sex, pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases. As a child-focused organization, World Vision works to prevent these outcomes, providing children with the basics they need to reach their God-given potential including essential household and school supplies.
